DESCRIPTION:OPEN AIR PERFORMANCE SERIES: ARGEL MONTE DE RAMOS\nFree Outdoor Performances Weekdays at 6PM\n \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nArgel Monte de Ramos (he/him) is a Filipino Canadian singer-songwriter\, actor\, playwright-producer\, and director based in Surrey\, BC\, known for emotionally grounded work and authentic storytelling. He holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts and a Musical Theatre Diploma from Capilano University.  \nHis work spans music\, theatre\, and film\, earning national and local recognition\, including Top 10 Finalist in CBC Music’s Searchlight\, the Excellence Award for a BIPOC Artist at the Fraser Valley Music Awards\, and R&B Artist of the Year (2025). In theatre\, he received an Ovation Award for Outstanding Ensemble Member Performance (2024)\, two BroadwayWorld Awards for Best Music Direction & Orchestra Performance and Best Performer in a Musical (2025)\, and a Leo Award nomination for Best Musical Score in film.  \nArgel is the co-founder of Momentum 180 Collective and the creator of The Parallel Project\, a workshop initiative developing original monologues by emerging IBPOC writers\, performed by IBPOC actors. The project is set to be published in May 2026 and will be available in bookstores worldwide.  \nCommitted to anti-racism and inclusive storytelling\, Argel uses his work across music\, theatre\, and arts leadership to uplift and inspire youth. All ages welcome.  \n\nJoin Vancouver-based artist Paula Nishikawara for a hands-on gyotaku printmaking workshop! In this session\, you will learn about the traditional Japanese art of gyotaku\, a form of fish printing that captures the beauty and detail of marine life. You will create several of your own unique art prints using real fish\, washi (Japanese paper)\, and paint. Be prepared to see and touch real creatures from the ocean and memorialize them as an artwork while exploring a deeper connection to nature through observation and touch.  \n\n\nAll materials provided. Optional: bring your own fabric items (scarves\, bags\, shirts) to create wearable gyotaku art!  \n\n\nABOUT THE ARTIST\nPaula Nishikawara is an international artist based in Canada and Japan. Nishikawara engages in an experiential based art practise with themes of memory\, history\, culture and language. She often uses traditional Japanese techniques and materials; reinterpreting or redesigning to fit a new discourse in a new time. Her work is an antithesis in an increasingly digital world. DESCRIPTION:OPEN AIR PERFORMANCE SERIES: REBECCA ERIN CURTIS\nFree Outdoor Performances Weekdays at 6PM\n \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nRebecca Erin Curtis is a singer/songwriter currently residing in the Coquitlam area. Bouncing around North America as a young girl\, she found a home in performing in musical theatre. As of 2022\, she holds diplomas in Musical Theatre performance from both MacEwan University and Capilano University. Though she adores acting and dancing\, music has always been her true passion. On top of singing and tap-dancing\, she plays six instruments: the piano\, guitar\, ukulele\, clarinet\, trumpet and violin. Being raised on musicals and country music\, she values the storytelling aspect of songwriting. Inspired by artists such as Carole King\, Sara Bareilles\, The Band Perry\, and Taylor Swift\, she began writing songs at fourteen.  \nWhile attending Capilano University\, she was lucky enough to compose the songs for their production of The Penelopiad. Since graduating\, she has thrown herself back into writing\, songs and shows. In September\, she will be performing her cabaret\, UNPACKING: the art of telling a short story long\, at the Vancouver Fringe Festival. She has exhibited throughout BC and teaches art to children and adults throughout the lower mainland.\n\nKim Bunka: Kim took her first Musical Theatre class in 1998 and has been in love with it ever since! She is a graduate of Grant MacEwan University’s Theatre Arts Program and has been in over 45 musicals and plays in Edmonton and the Lower Mainland. Kim also spent eight years as a performer and stage manager with Disney Cruise Line. DESCRIPTION:OPEN AIR PERFORMANCE SERIES: NORINE BRAUN\nFree Outdoor Performances Weekdays at 6PM\n \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nNorine Braun is an award-winning Métis and Two Spirit singer-songwriter from East Vancouver\, known for her soulful vocals\, introspective lyrics\, and genre-blending mix of roots\, blues\, and folk. With 15 commended albums\, Braun continues to craft emotionally resonant music that explores identity\, belonging\, and transformation.  \nHer latest release\, A Hero In The Wind\, and the album’s title track was written in honour of her birth father—anchors an album recorded in a remarkable way: the first five songs were captured live-off-the-floor in just one hour each during Steve Dawson’s Henhouse Pop-Up Sessions. The result is a raw\, immediate\, and deeply human collection that reflects love\, reconnection\, and reclaimed heritage.  \nBraun’s earlier concept album Journey Toward Wholeness chronicled her reunion with her Métis family echoing Braun’s lived experience as an adoptee embracing her Métis heritage. and earned support from the First Peoples’ Cultural Council.
