Supplies and refreshments provided.  \n  \nWe were excited to host a Tea\, Tour and Textiles on Tuesday\, June 9th\, inspired by the exhibition Lure. Participants engaged in a guided tour and reflective discussion\, followed by a hands-on textile activity led by Wendy. The creative portion invited participants to create a 3D felted fish. \n  \n  \nABOUT THE EXHIBITION  \nLure is a thematic group exhibition that explores fishing as an ancient yet everyday activity—one that spans subsistence\, livelihood\, sport\, and ritual. Featuring work by Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists from across Canada\, the exhibition reflects connections to the Pacific\, Arctic\, and Atlantic Oceans\, as well as the freshwater systems that link them. Together\, the artists examine the social\, cultural\, and ecological significance of fishing from coast to coast to coast.

Share your fishing stories\, poems or song in a thirty-minute open mic session and enjoy live music from Port Moody’s own East Coast transplants Adam and Sarah Faber. \n \nABOUT THE EXHIBITION \nFrom subsistence to livelihood\, from sport to ritual\, fishing links people from coast to coast to coast. Then\, return to the studio to create your own expressive ceramic artwork using hand-building techniques. \nGuided by Julie’s creative and reflective approach\, participants will experiment with form\, texture\, and imagination while learning foundational clay techniques. Drawing on forms\, textures\, and narratives linked to oceans\, freshwater\, and fishing traditions\, from subsistence to ritual\, participants will translate both the exhibition’s visual and conceptual elements into a usable ceramic object.\n\n\n\nABOUT OUR EDUCATOR\nJulie is a visual artist who works in painting\, sculpture\, and mixed media to explore themes of beauty\, nature\, and the human experience. DESCRIPTION:OPEN AIR PERFORMANCE SERIES: ARGEL MONTE DE RAMOS\nFree Outdoor Performances Weekdays at 6PM\n \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nArgel Monte de Ramos (he/him) is a Filipino Canadian singer-songwriter\, actor\, playwright-producer\, and director based in Surrey\, BC\, known for emotionally grounded work and authentic storytelling. He holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts and a Musical Theatre Diploma from Capilano University.  \nHis work spans music\, theatre\, and film\, earning national and local recognition\, including Top 10 Finalist in CBC Music’s Searchlight\, the Excellence Award for a BIPOC Artist at the Fraser Valley Music Awards\, and R&B Artist of the Year (2025). In theatre\, he received an Ovation Award for Outstanding Ensemble Member Performance (2024)\, two BroadwayWorld Awards for Best Music Direction & Orchestra Performance and Best Performer in a Musical (2025)\, and a Leo Award nomination for Best Musical Score in film.  \nArgel is the co-founder of Momentum 180 Collective and the creator of The Parallel Project\, a workshop initiative developing original monologues by emerging IBPOC writers\, performed by IBPOC actors. The project is set to be published in May 2026 and will be available in bookstores worldwide.  \nCommitted to anti-racism and inclusive storytelling\, Argel uses his work across music\, theatre\, and arts leadership to uplift and inspire youth.
