Like him\, the music is equal parts Mexican and Canadian. Tom was born and raised in Mexico City\, and moved to Canada in his teens. In the mid-nineties he formed the Folk Roots band\, The Paperboys\, who have been touring world-wide for over 20 years. Tom has always dabbled in Latin music\, and in 2005 decided to immerse himself more into genre\, and started working on material for an album. In 2006 he was awarded a Canada Council Grant to study traditional Mexican Music in Veracruz\, Mexico. Tom spent his days learning the jarana (an 8 string guitar)\, and learning songs from the Son Jarocho repertoire. DESCRIPTION:OPEN AIR PERFORMANCE SERIES: REBECCA ERIN CURTIS\nFree Outdoor Performances Weekdays at 6PM\n \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nRebecca Erin Curtis is a singer/songwriter currently residing in the Coquitlam area. Bouncing around North America as a young girl\, she found a home in performing in musical theatre. As of 2022\, she holds diplomas in Musical Theatre performance from both MacEwan University and Capilano University. Though she adores acting and dancing\, music has always been her true passion. On top of singing and tap-dancing\, she plays six instruments: the piano\, guitar\, ukulele\, clarinet\, trumpet and violin. Being raised on musicals and country music\, she values the storytelling aspect of songwriting. Inspired by artists such as Carole King\, Sara Bareilles\, The Band Perry\, and Taylor Swift\, she began writing songs at fourteen.  \nWhile attending Capilano University\, she was lucky enough to compose the songs for their production of The Penelopiad. Since graduating\, she has thrown herself back into writing\, songs and shows. In September\, she will be performing her cabaret\, UNPACKING: the art of telling a short story long\, at the Vancouver Fringe Festival. An artist who is open about her neurodivergent struggles\, she best connects with people through her written words. Throughout her art\, she strives to be honest\, thought-provoking\, but hopeful. With 15 commended albums\, Braun continues to craft emotionally resonant music that explores identity\, belonging\, and transformation.  \nHer latest release\, A Hero In The Wind\, and the album’s title track was written in honour of her birth father—anchors an album recorded in a remarkable way: the first five songs were captured live-off-the-floor in just one hour each during Steve Dawson’s Henhouse Pop-Up Sessions. DESCRIPTION:FANTASTIC WORLDS & CREATIVE CREATURES\nFull-Day Camp | Hybrid Performing & Visual Art\n\n\n\nStep into imagined realms where creativity knows no bounds! In this immersive full‑day camp\, mornings are dedicated to performing arts inspired by myths\, animals\, and fantasy worlds. Through theatre games\, movement\, improvisation\, and ensemble work\, campers explore expressive storytelling and bring imaginative characters and worlds to life. \nIn the afternoons\, visual arts take centre stage as campers design the worlds they explored in the morning. Projects include creating landscapes and environments\, masks and creatures\, 3D building\, and mixed‑media fantasy art. After this short tour\, head to Lafarge Lake for a morning of fishing. Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC will teach you how\, when and where to catch fish in this introductory program for kids and their families\, as well as adults. Ages 5+   \nFree to attend\, pre-registration required.\nAges 5+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.\nPlease meet at The Gallery at Evergreen Arts\n \n \nABOUT THE EXHIBITION  \nLure  | June 6th – August 23rd  \nFrom subsistence to livelihood\, from sport to ritual\, fishing links people from coast to coast to coast. This thematic group exhibition includes work by Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists across Canada with ties to the Pacific\, Arctic and Atlantic Oceans\, and the freshwater bodies that flow between. Together the artists explore the complex social and cultural significance of the ancient yet everyday activity of fishing. \n\n\n

DESCRIPTION:STAGELAB: DESIGN IT\, BUILD IT\, PERFORM IT\nFull-Day Camp | Performing Arts with Design Focus\nEducators: Kim Bunka & Season Darling\n  \n\n\n\n\nFor older students ready to dive deeper\, StageLab offers a dynamic\, hands‑on journey through the full theatre‑making process. This immersive camp challenges campers to think like designers\, creators\, and performers as they collaboratively bring an original mini‑musical to life.   \n  \n\n\nMornings with Season focus on behind‑the‑scenes creation\, where students explore prop‑making\, costume ideas\, set concepts\, and creative planning. Campers learn how visual design supports storytelling\, mood\, and character while developing their own artistic voice and collaborative skills.   \n  \n\n\nAfternoons with Kim shift into performance mode with focused acting\, singing\, and movement workshops. She is a graduate of Grant MacEwan University’s Theatre Arts Program and has been in over 45 musicals and plays in Edmonton and the Lower Mainland. Kim also spent eight years as a performer and stage manager with Disney Cruise Line. She began teaching voice lessons and musical theatre straight out of theatre school and loves inspiring the next generation of theatre enthusiasts\, as well as creating a safe place for students of all ages to express themselves.\n \nSeason Darling: is a new addition to the Performing Arts team! She has been involved with Evergreen Summer Arts Camp in various roles from volunteer\, parent of a camper\, public programs coordinator\, and more. Utilizing her experience in working with kids alongside years participating in drama and theatre courses\, Season enjoys creating plays from scratch by following the guidance of the campers.
