Using marbled clay\, you’ll design and shape a one‑of‑a‑kind tray while experimenting with etching\, carving\, and subtle texturing techniques that echo the quiet dialogue between form and surface.\n \n \nOver three relaxed\, guided hours\, you’ll learn how contrasting clays create organic marbling patterns\, then personalize your piece through intentional marks; scratched lines\, impressions\, and tactile details that catch light and shadow. He holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts and a Musical Theatre Diploma from Capilano University.  \nHis work spans music\, theatre\, and film\, earning national and local recognition\, including Top 10 Finalist in CBC Music’s Searchlight\, the Excellence Award for a BIPOC Artist at the Fraser Valley Music Awards\, and R&B Artist of the Year (2025). All ages welcome.  \n\nJoin Vancouver-based artist Paula Nishikawara for a hands-on gyotaku printmaking workshop! In this session\, you will learn about the traditional Japanese art of gyotaku\, a form of fish printing that captures the beauty and detail of marine life. You will create several of your own unique art prints using real fish\, washi (Japanese paper)\, and paint. Be prepared to see and touch real creatures from the ocean and memorialize them as an artwork while exploring a deeper connection to nature through observation and touch.  \n\n\nAll materials provided. Optional: bring your own fabric items (scarves\, bags\, shirts) to create wearable gyotaku art!  \n\n\nABOUT THE ARTIST\nPaula Nishikawara is an international artist based in Canada and Japan. Nishikawara engages in an experiential based art practise with themes of memory\, history\, culture and language. She often uses traditional Japanese techniques and materials; reinterpreting or redesigning to fit a new discourse in a new time. Her work is an antithesis in an increasingly digital world. Her images are created in real time\, using tangible materials and the body\, in location\, often with others\, creating life and more memories. \n\nABOUT THE EXHIBITION\n \nFrom subsistence to livelihood\, from sport to ritual\, fishing links people from coast to coast to coast. In the mid-nineties he formed the Folk Roots band\, The Paperboys\, who have been touring world-wide for over 20 years. Tom has always dabbled in Latin music\, and in 2005 decided to immerse himself more into genre\, and started working on material for an album. In 2006 he was awarded a Canada Council Grant to study traditional Mexican Music in Veracruz\, Mexico. Tom spent his days learning the jarana (an 8 string guitar)\, and learning songs from the Son Jarocho repertoire. With a diverse dance background\, Jhoely trained at the Goh Ballet Academy\, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Contemporary Dance from Simon Fraser University\, and honed her flamenco skills at Al Mozaico Flamenco and Flamenco Rosario.  \nHer work has been showcased at renowned events such as the Victoria Flamenco Festival\, Vancouver International Flamenco Festival\, Vines Festival\, New Works Dance\, and the Vancouver Fringe Festival\, among others. DESCRIPTION:OPEN AIR PERFORMANCE SERIES: KYLIE FOX\nFree Outdoor Performances Weekdays at 6PM\n \nABOUT THE ARTIST \n“Canadiana queen\, free-spirited songbird\, and tree hugging feminist\, Kylie Fox’s brand of Americana blends humour\, wit\, and 70s glitz to tell stories rooted in Canadian culture and sharply original observations of the world around her.  She’s inspired by the whimsy of artists like Jenny Lewis and Adrianne Lenker\, while being led by her deep love for the lyricism of Joni Mitchell and the empowering showmanship of Brandi Carlile.   \nWith her distinct voice\, two album releases\, and years of touring\, Fox has amassed a dedicated fanbase. DESCRIPTION:OPEN AIR PERFORMANCE SERIES: REBECCA ERIN CURTIS\nFree Outdoor Performances Weekdays at 6PM\n \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nRebecca Erin Curtis is a singer/songwriter currently residing in the Coquitlam area. Bouncing around North America as a young girl\, she found a home in performing in musical theatre. As of 2022\, she holds diplomas in Musical Theatre performance from both MacEwan University and Capilano University. Though she adores acting and dancing\, music has always been her true passion. On top of singing and tap-dancing\, she plays six instruments: the piano\, guitar\, ukulele\, clarinet\, trumpet and violin. Being raised on musicals and country music\, she values the storytelling aspect of songwriting. Inspired by artists such as Carole King\, Sara Bareilles\, The Band Perry\, and Taylor Swift\, she began writing songs at fourteen.  \nWhile attending Capilano University\, she was lucky enough to compose the songs for their production of The Penelopiad. Since graduating\, she has thrown herself back into writing\, songs and shows. In September\, she will be performing her cabaret\, UNPACKING: the art of telling a short story long\, at the Vancouver Fringe Festival. An artist who is open about her neurodivergent struggles\, she best connects with people through her written words. Throughout her art\, she strives to be honest\, thought-provoking\, but hopeful.
