SUMMARY:Rehearsal Hall Sessions: Hair Hair Everywhere
DESCRIPTION:HAIR HAIR EVERYWHERE\nA Play Reading\nBy Sarv Star \n\n \n\nABOUT THE SHOW\n\n\n\nHair Hair Everywhere is a bold and heartfelt multigenerational play about a young queer Persian femme exploring her relationship with body hair through the lenses of culture\, gender\, family\, and identity. Caught between personal desire and inherited beauty standards\, she begins a journey toward understanding and self-acceptance.\n \nGuided by her eyelash—mojeh—a gentle and mystical presence\, she enters a surreal world where her body hair begins to speak. One by one\, she hears her hair: her head hair\, armpit hair\, leg hair\, and pubic hair\, each representing a different part of her being.\n \nBlending traditional rituals with imagined ones\, the play creates a rich\, sensory landscape where healing\, storytelling\, and embodiment intertwine. Through these ritual spaces\, she not only learns to listen to herself\, but also begins to recognize the echoes of her maternal lineage within her.\n \nHer journey deepens when she meets a hairy ancestor from the 1800s\, connecting her to a lineage when hairiness was being desired and celebrated.\n \nWith humor\, vulnerability\, and imagination\, Hair Hair Everywhere invites audiences to reflect on their own relationships with their bodies. SUMMARY:Music Series: Sultans of String
DESCRIPTION:SULTANS OF STRING: CHRISTMAS CARAVAN\nDoors 6:30PM | Concert 7:30PM \n  \nABOUT THE SHOW \n\nCelebrate the season with an adventurous musical trip around the world! 3x JUNO nominees and 7x CFMA winners Sultans of String are an “energetic and exciting band with talent to burn!” (Maverick Magazine UK). Thrilling their audiences with their genre-hopping passport of Celtic reels\, flamenco\, Django-jazz\, Arabic and Cuban rhythms\, Sultans of String celebrate musical fusion and human creativity with warmth and virtuosity. Fiery violin dances with rumba-flamenco guitar\, while bass and nyckelharpa lay down unstoppable grooves. Together acoustic strings meet electronic wizardry to create layers and depth of sound. \n\n  \n  \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nBandleader and Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal recipient Chris McKhool (Jesse Cook\, Pavlo) comes by global roots music through deep ties to his ancestry – his father’s name would have been pronounced Makhoul in ancestral Kfirmishki Lebanon\, and his Egyptian-born mother happened to play piano\, teach classical theory and feed her young son as much music instruction as she did Middle Eastern cuisine. From there\, the powerful violinist developed a taste for multi-genre string sounds and found a like-minded crew of all-world enthusiasts. When McKhool first heard the rumba rhythm of founding guitarist Kevin Laliberté (Jesse Cook)\, their musical synergy created Sultans of String’s signature sound – the intimate and playful relationship between violin and guitar. From this rich foundation\, the dynamic duo grew\, featuring such amazing musical friends as in the pocket bass master Drew Birston (Chantal Kreviazuk)\, singer to the stars Rebecca Campbell (Jane Siberry\, Parachute Club)\,  and the virtuosic nyckelharpa playing of Saskia Tomkins (Celtic music consultant for the Broadway hit Come From Away).\n \nEqually at home in a concert hall\, music festival\, folk or jazz club\, the Sultans have gigged at JUNOfest\, the legendary club Birdland in New York\, Celtic Connections Festival (Glasgow) and London’s Trafalgar Square. Sultans of String have also collaborated with such diverse luminaries as Paddy Moloney & The Chieftains\, Sweet Honey in The Rock\, Richard Bona (Paul Simon)\, Alex Cuba\, Béla Fleck\, Crystal Shawanda and Ken Whiteley. \n  \n \n  \n\nSINGLE TICKETS ON SALE!\nAdults: $50 | Seniors: $46 | Students: $19 \n  \nBOX OFFICE: 604.927.6555 | Open Monday – Saturday\, 12 – 5PM

SUMMARY:Rehearsal Hall Sessions: Eagle Ex Machina
DESCRIPTION:EAGLE EX MACHINA\n\n \n\nABOUT THE SHOW\n\n\n\n\nEagle Ex Machina is an indigenous alternative rock band based out of western Canada. The band was founded by multi-instrumentalist/singer-songwriter Matt Cook-Contois to combine a love of rock music and a traditional fiddle upbringing. The music of Eagle Ex Machina features an aggressive approach to songwriting\, guitar and violin proficiency\, and a diverse set of influences to create a unique sonic signature.\n \nThe musical journey of Matt Cook-Contois started on his traditional territory of Misipawistik Cree Nation through the Frontier Fiddling Program. A combination of classroom learning\, the tutelage of his musician Grandfather\, and years of practice culminated in back-to-back finals appearances at the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championship.\n \nMatt then relocated to Vancouver and set his focus on performing and becoming a session recording artist. He got his introduction to the Vancouver music scene by joining the Clay Ravens\, a local indie rock band. He also joined The Sheets\, a talented cover band which holds a residency at the legendary Blarney Stone in Gastown. These musical projects allowed Matt to further hone his skills as a performer\, songwriter\, and singer.\n \nEagle Ex Machina was created in 2020 to capture the musical identity Matt developed throughout his career. The soundscape of Eagle Ex Machina pays homage and draws on influences such as the Foo Fighters\, City & Colour\, Queens of the Stone Age\, and Matthew Good Band while incorporating a modern approach to Canadian Fiddling.\n\n \n\n\n\n\nSINGLE TICKETS ON SALE:\nAdult $29 | Students/Senior: $19 \nBOX OFFICE: 604.927.6555 | Open Monday – Saturday\, 12 – 5PM

SUMMARY:Rehearsal Hall Sessions: Śṛṅgāra Lahiri {Ripples of Desire}
DESCRIPTION:ŚṚṄGĀRA LAHIRI\n{Ripples of Desire}\nAn Evening Of Bharatanatyam with Live Music\n\n \n\nABOUT THE SHOW\n\n\n\n\n\nŚṛṅgāra Lahiri {Ripples of Desire}: is an offering shaped by lineage\, rigor\, and deep practice. Anchored in the traditional format of a margam (a formalized sequence of choreographies)\, śṛṅgāra (erotic love) is explored as an inner unfolding where desire becomes a landscape for longing\, where devotion softens the body\, and intimacy reveals emotional architectures that are deeply human and quietly transcendent.\n \nThe compositions in this margam move through subtle shades of connection and separation\, restraint and surrender. Śṛṅgāra is carried in the body through rhythm and gesture\, culminating into spiritual expression. Through precise technique and sustained presence\, the dancer inhabits these emotional states with clarity and depth\, allowing tradition to breathe in the present.\n \nPerformed with live music\, the work unfolds as a dynamic exchange between dancer and musicians\, where rhythm\, melody\, and breath shape each moment in real time. This immediacy underscores Bharatanatyam as a living practice; historically grounded yet continuously renewed through embodiment.\n \nŚṛṅgāra Lahiri invites audiences into an experience that is at once intimate and expansive: a deeply rooted\, rigorously crafted\, and urgently contemporary articulation of Bharatanatyam in its full artistic vitality.\n\n\n \n\n\nABOUT THE COMPANY\n\n\n\n\n\n\n All Choreographies by A.
