The Life Drawing Artist Sessions are non-instructional and focused on the observation and rendering of the human figure. We provide studio space\, easels\, and models for each session. Observing real-life models and practicing different poses will help hone your eye\, enhancing your understanding of proportions and anatomy. DESCRIPTION:This dynamic drama workshop for adults explores the fundamentals of narrative improvisation through collaborative storytelling techniques like accepting\, advancing\, and overcoming obstacles. Participants will build essential life and performance skills such as teamwork\, communication\, adaptability\, and problem-solving. Led by arts educator Michael Charrois\, the workshop includes fun games and exercises to develop characters and narratives without the need for memorization. Scenes will incorporate emotional depth\, vulnerability\, and comedic contrast to enhance audience connection and engagement. DESCRIPTION:SCULPTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP WITH KAREN ZALAMEA\nKAREN ZALAMEA: EVERY SURFACE IS A SHRINE\nLed by artist Karen Zalamea\, explore how sculptural experiments with photographs can uncover material ways of reshaping and reconstructing our connection to familiar images. The workshop will draw from approaches used in the exhibition Every Surface Is a Shrine and other simple techniques for creating sculptural photography\, including cutting\, folding\, surface distressing\, and layering. \n\nParticipants are invited to bring 3 to 5 personal photographs (or copies of the photographs) that you are comfortable cutting and altering. Materials such as scissors\, adhesives\, cardstock\, and other basic tools will be supplied. \nFree to attend\, pre-registration required.\nAges 5+. Children must be accompanied by an adult. \n\n\nABOUT THE EXHIBITION \nThe Gallery at Evergreen Arts is pleased to present Every Surface Is a Shrine\, which brings together a selection of photo-based works by Karen Zalamea that traces the shifting boundaries between material\, memory and place. Rooted in a critical exploration of photography’s expanded possibilities\, Zalamea’s practice reimagines the medium not only as an image-making tool but as a methodology of care\, labour and cultural inquiry. \nThis exhibition is part of the 2026 Capture Photography Festival Selected Exhibition Program. His deep-rooted passion for Flamenco music has led him to explore and incorporate elements from a wide range of genres\, including jazz\, blues\, Roma jazz\, oriental\, and classical music into his playing style. \nHRIDAY BUDDHDEV | Hriday Buddhdev is a rising force in Canada’s Indian classical music landscape\, celebrated for his prowess on both sarod and tabla. Named one of CBC’s “30 Under 30” hottest classical artists in 2023\, Hriday has performed internationally across the USA\, UK\, and Canada. Raised in Coquitlam\, British Columbia\, he began playing tabla at age four and later studied sarod under Ustad Alam Khan at the prestigious Ali Akbar College of Music in California. He continues his tabla training under the legendary Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri. A two-time recipient of the Advanced Instrumental Scholarship from AACM\, Hriday is one of only a handful of sarod artists in Canada. In 2023\, he delivered a lecture-demonstration at the VSO’s Day of Music\, engaging audiences with the dynamic interplay between rhythm and melody.
