ECHOES OF A CIRCLE: EMERGING CREATORS INCUBATOR

This showcase exhibition featured artwork by six emerging multidisciplinary artists participating in Evergreen Cultural Centre’s (ECC) Emerging Creators Incubator, featuring Pegah Ahmadi, Jordanna George, Alia Hijaab, Juan Imperial, Jullianna Oke and Samantha Walters.   

The Emerging Creators Incubator was designed to support emerging artists from all artistic disciplines living on the Coast Salish territories known as the Tri-Cities and Lower Mainland. From May to July 2023, the artists came together to learn, dedicate time to their creative practices and form community. They received mentorship from guest artists Rebecca Bair, Sammy Chien 簡上翔, Sara Khan and Sandeep Johal as well as ECC staff, who guided the Incubator artists as they further developed their practices. Participants had access to the studios and facilities at ECC for one month to create the works in this showcase. Bridging performing and visual arts, the works in Echoes of a Circle reflected the artists’ journey through preservation and evolution.   

This youth-centred program was facilitated by Anna Luth, Curatorial Assistant, and Tanya Mathivanan, Performing Arts Assistant.
