The Gallery at Evergreen Arts is pleased to present a solo exhibition by acclaimed artist Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas. Between the Pages reflects the creative process the artist uses to build his art: from fluid sketches, to intricate murals, to riveting graphic novels. His art practice, which spans five decades, moves between literary, performing and visual arts to tell challenging stories that expand understandings of Haida culture, relations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities and how people impact their environment. The exhibition also explores how “Haida Manga” works in the space between cultures, and how the tension and innovation in this intersection generates cross-cultural understanding.  

Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas is an award-winning author and contemporary visual artist. His work has appeared in public spaces, museums, galleries and private collections around the globe. Institutional collections include the British Museum, London; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Seattle Art Museum; Humboldt Forum, Berlin; and, most recently, the Vancouver Art Gallery, with its acquisition of Yahgulanaas’s 2025 Clan Hat mural. Yahgulanaas’ numerous publications include bestsellers Flight of the Hummingbird and RED: a Haida Manga.
