Summer Arts Camp 2026 | StageLab: Design It, Build It, Perform It

STAGELAB: DESIGN IT, BUILD IT, PERFORM IT
Full-Day Camp | Performing Arts with Design Focus
Educators: Kim Bunka & Season Darling

For older students ready to dive deeper, StageLab offers a dynamic, hands‑on journey through the full theatre‑making process. This immersive camp challenges campers to think like designers, creators, and performers as they collaboratively bring an original mini‑musical to life.

Mornings with Season focus on behind‑the‑scenes creation, where students explore prop‑making, costume ideas, set concepts, and creative planning. Campers learn how visual design supports storytelling, mood, and character while developing their own artistic voice and collaborative skills.

Afternoons with Kim shift into performance mode with focused acting, singing, and movement workshops. Together, campers develop characters, rehearse scenes, learn musical numbers, and shape a fully realized mini‑musical—building confidence, creativity, and a true sense of ensemble along the way.

ABOUT OUR EDUCATORS

Kim Bunka: Kim took her first Musical Theatre class in 1998 and has been in love with it ever since! She is a graduate of Grant MacEwan University’s Theatre Arts Program and has been in over 45 musicals and plays in Edmonton and the Lower Mainland. Kim also spent eight years as a performer and stage manager with Disney Cruise Line. She began teaching voice lessons and musical theatre straight out of theatre school and loves inspiring the next generation of theatre enthusiasts, as well as creating a safe place for students of all ages to express themselves.
Season Darling: is a new addition to the Performing Arts team! She has been involved with Evergreen Summer Arts Camp in various roles from volunteer, parent of a camper, public programs coordinator, and more. Utilizing her experience in working with kids alongside years participating in drama and theatre courses, Season enjoys creating plays from scratch by following the guidance of the campers. Season’s day to day consists of working as a sign language interpreter all over the lower mainland, spending time with her four kids and partner, and reading a lot of books.
