SILAS NG: Music in My Eyes
Vancouver-based artist Silas Ng has been fascinated with classical music since childhood. He explores movement, vibration and the visual experience of music through his series Music in My Eyes (2020–). Working from his experience as a Deaf artist, Ng photographs performances of quick, energetic gestures and the long draw of the bow across the strings to demonstrate how “volume can be shown through action.”

About The Artist
Silas Ng is a multidisciplinary artist who explores identity, language and sound through images. His work involves photography and other mediums including drawing, painting and sculpture. He combines these mediums to express his perspective of multiculturalism and communication as a Deaf Chinese Canadian person. Ng reinterprets and transforms his experiences and relationships with his many cultures through images to break the invisible boundaries of language. Ng studied photography at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Vancouver, and is a recent MFA graduate from the School for the Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver.
