TEA, TOUR & TEXTILES: STITCHING STORIES
(Age 50+)

Tuesday, February 2nd | 10:30am – 12:30pm
By donation. Registration required. Supplies and refreshments provided.

Begin with a guided tour of the current exhibition featuring acclaimed Haida artist Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas, whose vibrant works blend Indigenous Northwest Coast visual traditions with the dynamic storytelling style of manga. Together, we’ll explore themes of connection, community, movement, and interdependence that run throughout his work.

Following the tour, gather for tea and conversation before taking part in a hands-on embroidery workshop inspired by the exhibition. Using simple stitching techniques that are accessible to beginners and experienced makers alike, participants will create a textile artwork that responds to Yahgulanaas’s bold imagery, expressive use of colour, and interconnected visual narratives.

This welcoming workshop offers a chance to slow down, engage deeply with contemporary art, and explore embroidery as a creative form of storytelling and reflection. Leave with a unique handmade piece and a fresh perspective on the connections between art, craft, and community.
