ABOUT THE ARTIST
Argel Monte de Ramos (he/him) is a Filipino Canadian singer-songwriter, actor, playwright-producer, and director based in Surrey, BC, known for emotionally grounded work and authentic storytelling. He holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts and a Musical Theatre Diploma from Capilano University.
His work spans music, theatre, and film, earning national and local recognition, including Top 10 Finalist in CBC Music’s Searchlight, the Excellence Award for a BIPOC Artist at the Fraser Valley Music Awards, and R&B Artist of the Year (2025). In theatre, he received an Ovation Award for Outstanding Ensemble Member Performance (2024), two BroadwayWorld Awards for Best Music Direction & Orchestra Performance and Best Performer in a Musical (2025), and a Leo Award nomination for Best Musical Score in film.
Argel is the co-founder of Momentum 180 Collective and the creator of The Parallel Project, a workshop initiative developing original monologues by emerging IBPOC writers, performed by IBPOC actors. The project is set to be published in May 2026 and will be available in bookstores worldwide.
Committed to anti-racism and inclusive storytelling, Argel uses his work across music, theatre, and arts leadership to uplift and inspire youth. He believes in the transformative power of the arts to shape identity, build community, and create lasting impact.
